My name is Carolyn Pugh, I am married to Don, his story is below, we have raised 4 great children who are now raising their own families. I was raised in a house where we were taught to serve and support each other as well as strangers. Faith and trust in God always.
Here is a brief story of how Haiti came into my life. My first trip to Haiti was June 2012 and I was amazed at the love, faith and strength that I saw in everyone. Serving in Haiti became a very humbling and eye opening experience. Since that first trip, I have been blessed to travel to Haiti on 15 separate occasions for a total of 30 separate weeks. In 2014, I started serving as the Lead Education Advocate for Healing Haiti. I had no idea what that would mean in my life.
My husband Don took his first trip in January 2013, and has continued to travel 2 to 3 times a year. He continues to be amazed at the strong work ethic, faith and enjoyment that is experienced every time he travels there. One of the greatest lessons each of us has learned when traveling to Haiti was to be present and not worry about the tomorrows, that change may sound simple but it is difficult but the most rewarding change.
On June 1st, Don and I will travel to Haiti to begin serving as Long Term Missionaries at Grace Village in Titanyen. We will be walking beside our staff, in all the various ministries, serving and assisting where we are needed. I will continue to serve Grace Academy as well as prepare for the opening of Hope School in Cite Soleil in the fall of 2016.
We are so blessed to have the support of our children and their families as this adventure unfolds. We know God is with us in all aspects of this journey, He has a plan and we are prepared to listen as He offers His wisdom, energy and strength.
